Update on Anthony’s Brain Scan

We received some unfortunate news last night.  Apparently there was a typographical error when the results of Anthony’s brain scan were transposed on Thursday.  The grade 4 bleed on the left side of his brain that had supposedly gone down to a 1 is actually still a 4.  The good news is that there is no active bleeding so the bleeding has stopped.  Now we have to wait for the blood to be reabsorbed by his body.  When we originally heard that the left side was down to a 1 we thought that process was already at work.  As the blood drains from his brain there is the possibility that the blood could clog up his ventricles which is where spinal fluid usually drains from the brain.  If the fluid can’t drain and starts to cause swelling they usually do a spinal tap to drain the fluid and if it’s a persistent problem, they usually put a shunt in.  Please pray specifically that the blood would drain without clogging up the ventricles and that no swelling would occur.  We know everyone’s prayers are being heard as Anthony’s condition continues to be stable even with everything he’s going through.  The doctor we spoke with yesterday was impressed with how well Anthony is doing despite the brain bleed and the heart murmur.  He has even surpassed his sister in his feedings.  He is at 13ml every 3 hours and Aryanna is at 12 ml every 3 hours.  Here are some recent pictures of our sweet boy:

Prayer Requests:
  • Pray that the blood would drain from Anthony’s brain without causing any swelling.
  • Pray that both Anthony and Aryanna would continue to digest their food well.
  • Pray for both babies that their heart murmurs would resolve on their own.
  • Pray for Aryanna’s breathing.  She forgets to breathe every once in a while (totally normal for their age, but we still need to work on it!)
