Anthony is Having Surgery

It turns out Anthony has to have surgery because he does have an inguinal hernia.  Poor baby :(  We went to their 3 month appointment on Monday and the pediatrician told us that the hydrocele had turned into a hernia (a pretty common problem with preemies) so she scheduled us to see the pediatric surgeon today.  It doesn't sound like this is something we want to mess with so he's scheduled for surgery on September 11th.  This surgeon has done 4 or 5 of these surgeries every week for 25 years, so it does comfort us to know that Anthony will have such an experienced surgeon.  Normally this surgery is done on an outpatient basis, but because Anthony has had so many other complications and is still on oxygen they will keep him overnight to make sure he does alright.  He will have to be intubated during the surgery and then he will go back to the oxygen he's on now.  While they're in there fixing the hernia on the right side, they will go ahead and close the left side as well so he doesn't develop a hernia on that side at some point.  Please pray for a smooth surgery and a quick recovery for our sweet boy.

Weight check:  On Monday Aryanna weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and Anthony weighed 9 lbs 7 oz!  They're finally getting some meat on their bones and even have some rolls!  They continue to get closer to the growth curve.  Anthony's head circumference is on the growth curve, which the pediatrician will keep an eye on since his height and weight aren't on the curve yet.  It's probably because of the swelling while he was in the hospital.  Since he's come home his head has grown the 1 cm a week that it's supposed to.  Keep praying that they would continue to grow and gain weight.

Here are a couple of pictures of the little cuties!
